nvi software package provides 4.4BSD re-implementation of vi, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install nvi
nvi is installed in your system.
Make ensure the nvi package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep nvi *
You will get with nvi package name, version, architecture and description in a table
